Nostalgia is Expensive

First things first: Oh how we spend money on memories...

Don’t tell Nintendo, I’ve even changed the 64 logo colorway to the blog cover XD

It’s wild that I checked the document history of this script and I originally started writing down this idea down in September of 2021

That’s like 3 Covids ago.

I had the intention to write a blog in tandem with the video I dropped back in the 2021 when my collecting hobby started

Is that what we’re calling it? *Looks up the definition of obsession*

Now If you watched that video I went into detail of how the hobby of collecting has multiple legs; dabbling in the sneaker game, card games, video games, Stanley Cup (sorry Stanley Cup), scaled figures and all the channels that companies are using to appeal to their susceptible audience…

The key is learning how to curate what you like and afford what you love. Not pressing buy on everything but picking up the pieces that mean the most to you. I have to admit I’ve learned that personally and 3 years later I’m learning how to make this hobby also work for me.

And those elements became the inspirations for the Version 1 Nostalgia brand, one of my favorite designs in my old Teespring store.

That design also underwent a small edit being that (Muffled Nintendo) is notorious for summoning their Blue Eyes White Lawyer for their branding and even in it’s current state I’m sometimes nervous.

So the next course of action is to follow up the series with a version 2, inspired by all the more characteristics of the 80’s to the early 2000’s. It’s crazy to think that in about 6 years 2010 will end up the next generations “retro and nostalgia” and mentally I’m not ready for it.

Work in progress

As always with this process I source a bunch of my favorite shows, games, media from my favorite corners of my memories and splice them onto a trendy background. The only thing special about the various designs is that the collage is uniquely mine, the additional fun is choosing which letters go together to spell Nostalgia.

So if you like the design, take a look in the shop! We’ll be posting version 2 as well as the original edited version 1 as it phases out and keep up-to-date with more designs either in this series or in the blog (if you’re reading this).

I’ll catch you in the next one

Peace!
