WIP
First things first: I’m still doing too much and I’ve had this conversation before ( You can watch the video below or read the blog, both are fundamental).
I came across a video the other day by a creator named Zephyer and it was titled “The real reason you’re not better at Art.” The thumbnail was a simple illustration of a folder named Work in Progress (show example) and another folder named finished (show example).
Now you know when a piece of content or a sentence grabs your attention and you kinda fell personally attacked? I felt every piece of this title being that I filled a 2TB hard drive and 1TB is projects that I'm scheduling for God knows when. So on I watched and listened and realized why so much of my work has stayed in that pending status for the course of 2 year:
I lost my discipline.
My focus faded.
And I'm always excited about the next thing.
I have 2 channels at the moment, I made the second one knowing good and well that the majority of the Know your Craft audience cares nothing about collectables. So I split the content but at the same time split my attention. Because I got a new excitement for opening packages and examining the details of figures and working on setups and displays.
But that left no space for adding new designs to the shop and promoting my brand, those vague moments of wondering how to advertise new products on one page or taking photos and realizing I don't even have the time to complete them.
So now that I've identified the issue I have to start on step 2 and step 3; (2) understanding the faults and (3) getting excited about the project at hand instead of the multiples of what's coming next. And since you see me on the channel messing with designs and getting the shop updated this is where I decided to begin. I need some improvements and some checked off lists.
Definitely suggest giving the video a watch, I've even subscribed since watching a few other videos and I really enjoy his art style and content. My feed has really started to skew back to the artistic and creative side and it took way too long to get there.
I’m working on not just making this year better than the last but getting out of this anxious state. Creating makes me happy, to sit in front of my setup and organize and edit, to turn my ideas into designs and watch others create and share their projects and what motivates them. And minimize the number count in my work in progress folder.
